MSU Signs Jacksonville's Anderson
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State University announced the signing of Jacksonville College's Marcus Anderson to a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the defending Lone Star Conference champion Mustangs next season.
Anderson, a 6-5, 205 pound forward from Houston/Klein Forest, was a third-team All-NJCAA Region XIV selection in 2007 for Jacksonville.
Anderson led Jacksonville by averaging 11.9 points a game and was second on the team in rebounding with 5.4 boards a contest. He shot 45.1 percent from the floor as a sophomore and led the Jaguars by hitting 41.5 percent from the three-point arc with 44 threes in 106 attempts. He was second on the team at the foul line at 74.8 percent.
As a freshman at JC, he averaged 7.0 points and 4.9 rebounds a game while shooting 46.4 percent from the arc.
"Marcus is a versatile athlete who can play three positions for us," stated MSU head coach Jeff Ray. "He's a good three-point shooter and can rebound well."
"He's a hard worker, talented and really wants to get a degree. He came highly recommended by both his junior college coach and high school coaches. He should be a great fit at Midwestern."
MSU, ranked 19th nationally in the final NABC Division II Poll, advanced to the NCAA Division II South Central Region semifinals.
The Mustangs finished the season with a 24-7 record.
