Mustangs to play 11-Game Football Schedule

            WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State University will open the 2007 football season on Saturday, Aug. 25 on the road in Alamosa, Colo., as the Mustangs announced their 2007 football schedule on Thursday.

            MSU, who posted a school record 10 wins with three losses and finished the season ranked 18th nationally, will open the 2007 campaign at Adams State.  This will give MSU an 11-game schedule featuring all Division II opponents.

            MSU will open at home on Sept. 8 against Southwestern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m.

            MSU is also at home on Sept. 15 against Northeastern State (Okla.) in a 1 p.m. contest for Family Day.

            Oct. 6 the Mustangs face two-time defending Lone Star Conference champion West Texas A&M in a 7 p.m. game on Military Appreciation Day.

            Texas A&M-Kingsville is MSU's opponent on Oct. 20 for Homecoming that features and 8 p.m. kickoff.

            The Mustangs will conclude the regular season at home on Nov. 10 against Abilene Christian at 1 p.m. while hosting it's annual Holiday Food Drive.

            In addition to Adams State, MSU has road games at East Central (Okla.) on Sept. 22, Angelo State on Sept. 29, and Tarleton State on Oct. 13.

            MSU also travels to Southeastern Oklahoma State on Oct. 27 and Eastern New Mexico on Nov. 3.

            Adams State posted a 6-5 record in 2006, finishing fourth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a 4-4 mark.

            Midwestern State advanced to the NCAA Division II Southwest Region semifinals with it's 10-3 mark last season, and tied for second in the overall LSC standings with ACU with a 7-2 record.

            West Texas A&M was 11-2 last season, winning the LSC with an 8-1 record, while ACU was 8-3 overall.  MSU, WT and ACU represented the LSC in the NCAA Division II Championships.

            Tarleton State finished 6-4 overall, but held a 5-1 LSC South record to tie West Texas for the South Division title.

            Southeastern Oklahoma won the LSC North in 2006 with a 6-4 overall record and a 4-1 division mark, while Southwestern Oklahoma was 6-5 overall and tied Northeastern State (4-6) at 3-2 in the North to finish second in that loop.

            MSU's home schedule features three night games and two day contests, while the road sees the Mustangs with three day games and two night affairs.
