Mustangs Take Two From Lady Reds

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - - The Midwestern State softball team picked up two key Lone Star Conference North Division wins, beating 11th ranked Northeastern State (Okla.) in a home doubleheader, 1-0 in 11 innings in game one, and then 1-0 in game two.

            In game one, MSU (34-13) scored its lone run on a RBI single by Amanda Hill in the bottom of the 11th inning, which scored Kelli Shaw. Pitcher Katie Petersen pitched all 11 innings, allowing three hits and striking out six, in picking up win number 19.

            In the second game, the Mustangs scored their only run almost the same way they did in the first game, on an RBI single by Amanda Hill in the bottom of the second. Pitcher Ashley Kuchenski had another solid game, allowing two hits and striking out two batters, with her record on the season moving to 15-3.

            Midwestern will be in LSC North action again on Saturday, when they travel to play NSU. The two teams will play a doubleheader, with game one set to start at 2:00 p.m. in Tahlequah.
