Mustangs Softball Second in Region
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Midwestern State University softball jumped up five places to the number two spot in this week's NCAA Division II South Central Regional rankings.
MSU, who swept all four games from Northeastern State who was previously ranked fourth in the regional rankings, climbed from the number seven position they held last week.
The Mustangs 36-13 overall record and 32-11 in-region record show the second-highest victory total in the region, behind top-ranked Angelo State (37-5 overall).
St. Edwards (32-14) is third in this week's rankings, followed by St. Mary's (31-14) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (25-14).
Northeastern State (24-9) dropped to sixth, with Tarleton State (23-12), Mesa State (Colo.) (24-9), Central Oklahoma (20-8) and Colorado State-Pueblo (19-10) rounding out the top 10.
The regional rankings are now weekly until May 2. The selection of the teams to the NCAA Division II Softball Championships will be on Sunday May 6.
