Mustangs ninth after first day of LSC Golf

            DALLAS, Texas - The Midwestern State University Mustangs struggled through the first two rounds of the Lone Star Conference Championships at Bear Creek Golf Club's East Course on Monday as the Mustangs are ninth after the first day.

            MSU posted scores of 305-305--610 in ninth, two strokes behind East Central at 608, while ahead of Southwestern Oklahoma State's 623.

            Northeastern State leads the tournament at 571, with Central Oklahoma in second at 583 and Abilene Christian third at 590.

            MSU was paced by the play of freshman Logan Scarlett who fired a one-under 71 followed by a seven-over 79 for a 150 total.  Hunter Linscombe carded a 76-75--151, while Gordon Quebodeaux 78-75--153.

            Brady Jones added a 80-77--157, and Andrew Ludlow tallied an 81-78--159.

            Northeastern State's Kevin King and UCO's Mitch Boles hold the individual lead at six-under 138.  King fired a pair 69s, while Boles went 71-67.  NSU's Joby Dutcher and Cameron's Matt Trammell are third at three-under 141.  Dutcher fired the day's low round with a six-under 66.

            The final round of the tournament is Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m.
