Mustangs third after first day of Pepsi/Crawford-Wade Invitational
POTTSBORO, Texas - The Midwestern State University golf team stands third, just eight strokes off the pace after the first two rounds of the Pepsi/Crawford-Wade Invitational hosted by Texas A&M University-Commerce at the Tanglewood Resort on Lake Texoma.
The Mustangs posted a first day total of 603 after team rounds of 304 and 299 on the Arnold Palmer/Ralph Plummer designed course. St. Mary's leads the tournament after day one with a 298-293--591, while
MSU's Brady Jones is third individually, just one stroke back, after posting a 36-hole total of three-over-par 147. Jones fired a two-over 74 in the opening round, then added a one-over 73 in the second round of the day.
Southeastern's Make Hamilton and St. Mary's Jamie Amoretti share the individual lead at two-over 146.
Logan Scarlett is in 15th position for MSU, after rounds of 76 and 75 to stand at 151, five strokes off the lead. Jason Bender is six back in 19th after a 75-77--152.
Gordon Quebodeaux fired a 79-75--154 in opening day play, while Eric Thompson added an 80-76--156 for the Mustangs.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with a single 18-hole round.
