Mustangs Split Doubleheader With Cameron
MSU (23-11, 7-5) lost the first game 3-2 in eight innings, with Lauren Craig going 1-2 with two runs batted in. Pitcher Katie Petersen had a solid game despite the loss as she went eight innings giving up three hits and striking out six batters, as her record fell to12-9.
The Mustangs bounced back to win the second game 8-7. Lindsey Voigt hit a three-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning which proved to be the game winner. Jessica Rodriguez and Craig also had a good day at the plate, with Rodriguez going 3-3 with one double and one RBI, and Craig going 2-3 with one RBI. Pitcher Ashley Kuchenski started the game and went three innings, allowing four hits and five earned runs while striking out two batters, while Petersen took the mound in the top of the fourth inning, allowing just two runs and striking out three, to pick up win number 13.
This is the first series that MSU has lost to a Lone Star Conference North oppenant, since softball returned in 2004.
