seniors who helped lead the Mustangs to a Lone Star Conference South Division co-championship and the top seed in the LSC Tournament were selected to the All-Lone Star Conference South Team announced Tuesday by the league office.

Senior center Eric Dawson and senior guard Drew Coffman were named first-team All-LSC South, while senior guard Chad Rickett was tabbed second-team All-LSC South.

The team is selected by the LSC South head coaches.

Dawson

, the 6-9 center from San Antonio/Sam Houston, was also named the LSC South Defensive Player of the Year.

Coffman, a 6-2 guard from Midland/Lee, was tabbed the division's Newcomer of the Year.

Dawson

leads NCAA Division II in rebounding, averaging 11.6 boards a game. He also is sixth nationally in blocked shots a game with 3.24 and 19th nationally in field goal percentage, hitting 60.1 percent of his shots from the floor. He leads the LSC in all of those categories as well.

Additionally,

Dawson

is the Mustangs' leading scorer with 17.0 points a game, ranking 10th in the league in that category.

Dawson

needs just eight blocked shots to get MSU's career record in just two seasons. The current record took four seasons to establish.

Coffman, who is in his first and only season with MSU after transferring from Texas Tech in January of 2006, leads the LSC and the South Central region with 5.38 assists per game to rank 22nd nationally. He's second on the team and 11th in the LSC in scoring with 16.8 points a game, while he's 14th in the country in three-point field goals per game at 2.6 and 51st nationally in free throw percentage, connecting on 83.3 percent of his charity tosses.

Rickett, 6-1 guard from Houston/Clear Lake, was named to the All-LSC South second-team. He's third on the squad in scoring, averaging 16.7 points a game to rank 13th in the LSC. He scored 30 points against West Texas A&M earlier this season. Rickett is also 11th in the conference in assists, tallying 3.96 per game, while shooting an even 50.0 percent from the floor. He also is 15th in the league in free throw percentage, connecting on 77.6 percent of his freebies.

Joining Dawson and Coffman on the All-LSC South first-team are West Texas A&M senior forward Damien Lolar, tabbed the LSC South Player of the Year, Tarleton State senior forward John Davis and Angelo State junior forward Marcus Hubbard.

Teaming with Rickett on the second-team are Texas A&M-Kingsville senior guards Remi Yusuf and Ricky Huckaby and

Eastern New Mexico

guards senior Tristan Largent and junior Justin Redman-Trotter.

West Texas A&M's Rick Cooper was named the LSC South Coach of the Year, while Tarleton State's Dan Eichel was selected the division's Freshman of the Year.
