WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Midwestern State University Mustangs dropped from sixth to eighth in the NCAA Division II South Central Region rankings released Wednesday afternoon.

Despite losing to a team with a losing record, Texas A&M-Kingsville jumped from seventh to third with a DII record of 10-4.

Northwest Missouri State with a DII record of 12-3 vaulted to fourth in the region, while Emporia State ( Kan.) fell from second to fifth with a loss to Northwest Missouri.

Southwestern Oklahoma State at 11-3 in Division II is sixth, with Central Oklahoma up to seventh with a DII mark of 8-4.

MSU, with a Division II and South Central Region record of 11-4 with last week's loss to Eastern New Mexico, is placed eighth, followed by Tarleton State (8-5 DII) and Truman State ( Mo.) (7-7 DII).

The rankings, which are weekly until March 4, will be used to seed the NCAA Division II tournament in the South Central region and place the at-large teams after automatic bids are issued to the Lone Star Conference, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and the Heartland Conference.
