senior Drew Coffman was named the Lone Star Conference South Men's Player of the Week for his outstanding play from Dec. 18 to Jan. 2.

Coffman, a 6-2, senior guard from Midland/Lee who transferred to MSU from Texas Tech, averaged 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists in leading the Mustangs to four wins during the holiday period and a string of five consecutive triumphs.

Coffman helped lead MSU to victories over No. 12 Northwest Missouri State and Southern Nazarene, ranked 10th in the NAIA, as part of the run.

He shot 48.1 percent from the floor in the run (25-of-52), while nailing 47.6 percent from the three-point arc (10-of-21) and 85.7 percent from the foul line (24-of-28). Coffman produced his first career double-doubles during the stretch with 22 points and a career-high 10 rebounds against the No. 12 Bearcats and 16 points with a career-high 10 assists against Southern Nazarene. He posted a career-high 27 points in Tuesday night's win over Cameron.

Coffman is the first MSU player to earn LSC South Player of the Week honors this season.

in D.L. Ligon Coliseum against Texas A&M-Commerce in LSC divisional crossover play. The men will tip about 8 p.m. following the women's contest that starts at 6 p.m.
