Southwestern Oklahoma drops Mustangs Men

- The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bulldogs used four big runs to erase a 13-point first half deficit and then to take a 13-point second half lead to defeat the Midwestern State University Mustangs 114-99 defeat Thursday night in Lone Star Conference crossover action.

MSU (3-2) used a 13-0 run early in the first half to take a large lead only to have the Bulldogs go on runs of 12-5 and 12-2 late in the half to erase the 13-point advantage. MSU went to the locker room leading 47-45 at the half.

In the second half, MSU's Eric Dawson got a quick bucket before the Dawgs (8-0) went on an 18-5 run over the next 3:42 to take the lead, then added a 13-5 run midway through the half to keep the Mustangs at bay.

MSU got as close as nine points with 2:04 to play, but Southwestern connected on free throws down the stretch to pull out the 114-99 win.

Senior Drew Coffman led all scorers with a career-high 25 points with six assists, while

Dawson
recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds, but only one blocked shot.

Jeremy Ford also added a season-high 19 points, and Chad Rickett contributed 17 points with seven rebounds.

Southwestern Oklahoma
was paced by Reggie Gunn and Marcus Millender with 20 points, while Jose Garcia and Nate Perry each tallied 17 points. Ryan Mann came off the bench with 13 points and a team-high six rebounds. Clarke Hale and Eric Payne chipped in 11 each as well.

MSU suffered a season-high 23 turnovers, while Southwestern posted only 10 as both teams shot over 55 percent from the floor.

MSU plays the second game of a three-games in five days stretch on Saturday as the Mustangs visit
