golf coach Jeff Ray announced the signing of high school senior Travis Klutts of Lake Kiowa/Callisburg to a national letter of intent to play for MSU next season.

Klutts, the defending Texas Class 2A individual champion, inked his letter during the early signing period.

"Travis has proven he is a quality golfer by his impressive showings in high school, American Junior Golf Association and Texas Junior Golf Tour tournaments," said Ray. "He will be a great addition to our program because of his ability and work ethic."

As a junior, Klutts won the individual title with a one-over-par 145 at the 2006 Class 2A State Golf Tournament after finishing in a seventh place tie as a sophomore in 2005 for Callisburg High.

In juniors play during the past season, he recorded five top 5 finishes on the Texas Legends Junior Tour, including a tie for fifth at last weekend's TLJT Tour Championship. He also placed third at the TLJT D.A. Weibring Classic and fifth at the Texas State Junior Golf Championships.

On the TJGT tour, he placed third this fall at the Bear Country Invitational, and was a member of the TJGT team that defeated the

Oklahoma
junior golf tour team in the Red River Challenge.

In the fall of 2005, he won the TJGT Doral Tesoro title and placed fourth at the TJGT Sky Creek Ranch event.

Currently, Klutts is ranked seventh on the TLJT tour and fourth on the TJGT tour. He's ranked 240th nationally for Boys 15-18 by Golfweek Magazine.

Klutts will enroll at

Midwestern
State
next fall.

Ray added, "He's a great young man who will represent MSU well on the golf course and the classroom."
