Volleyball drops two at LSC Crossover

- The Midwestern State University Mustangs put a scare into 25th ranked West Texas A&M Friday evening at the Lone Star Conference Crossover volleyball tournament.

The Mustangs took the match to five games before falling 3-2 to the Lady Buffs. WT claimed the match 30-26, 29-31, 30-16, 23-30, 15-3.

The loss dropped MSU to 11-10 overall on the season, while the no. 25 Lady Buffs improved to 18-3.

MSU's Krissa Johnson, Shay Velasquez and Sesley Graves all recorded 10 kills against WT, with

collecting six blocks and Johnson four blocks. Rachel Gilmore added nine kills.

Setter Allison Schreiber collected 41 assists and six kills.

West Texas
' Jessica Scherr posted 20 kills, while Rachel Altman added 16 kills and Megan Spivey tallied 14 with seven blocks.

Earlier on Friday, MSU fell to Abilene Christian 3-0 in the opening match of the tournament. ACU downed MSU 30-25, 30-27 and 30-24.

Johnson led MSU with 11 kills, with Gilmore posting seven and

also posted four blocks. Schreiber tallied 31 assists.

ACU (11-8) had Lauren Leone lead the way with 19 kills.
