Texas Woman's upends Mustangs

DENTON, Texas - Texas Woman's University came from being down two games-to-one to overtake the Midwestern State University Mustangs 3-2 in Lone Star Conference North volleyball action Tuesday night.

TWU took the match 30-24, 26-30, 28-30, 30-24, 15-12 in the grueling two hour and 15 minute match.

The loss drops MSU to 14-14 overall and 4-7 in LSC North play, eliminating the Mustangs chances for making LSC Tournament. Texas Woman's upped its record to 21-11 overall and in third in the LSC North at 6-5 with one conference match to play.

Midwestern was led by redshirt freshman Jessica Ransom of

Wichita Falls
with 16 kills and two blocks, while junior Rachel Gilmore of Arlington/Lamar added 14 kills with three blocks. Freshman Sesley Graves of
Wichita Falls
hit .500 for the match as well, while collecting 12 kills and six blocks. Sophomore Allison Schreiber of Windthorst collected 53 assists in the loss.

Texas Woman's got 21 kills and four blocks from Robin Hawkins, with Krystle Everett adding 18 kills as five different Pioneers collected double-digit kills.

MSU hit just .108 for the match, while TWU hit .158 while chalking up five service aces as well.

Midwestern State plays it's final match of the season at home in D.L. Ligon Coliseum/Gerald Stockton Court on Thursday night, when it meets Southwestern Oklahoma in a 7 p.m. contest.
