Mustangs return to AFCA Football Poll
The Mustangs returned to the weekly American Football Coaches Association Division II Poll at number 25 after smashing Texas A&M-Kingsville 44-17 last Saturday.
MSU, with a 6-2 overall record, 4-2 in all Lone Star Conference games and 2-2 in the LSC South Divison, is the third team for the LSC in the poll this week.
The surprise is that West Texas A&M, who fell from fourth to 13th this week, remained ahead of Abilene Christian, who jumped from 20th to 14th after handing WT a 49-33 whipping on national television last Thursday.
There was a little change in this week's poll, but the top four spots remained the same with defending national champion Grand Valley State (Mich.) (8-0) retaining the top spot, followed by defending runner-up Northwest Missouri State (8-0), and North Alabama (7-0). NWMSU and UNA each received one number one vote.
North Carolina Central (8-0) is fourth with Shepherd (
