Mustangs remain 24th in AFCA Poll
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Midwestern State University football team kept it's national ranking this week after dropping its first game of the season.
The Mustangs remained at number 24 in the weekly American Football Coaches Association Division II Poll.
MSU, with a 5-1 overall record, 3-1 in all Lone Star Conference games and 1-1 in the LSC South Divison, remains the third team for the LSC in the poll this week.
There was very little change in this week's poll, with only one team, Washburn ( Kan.), falling out of the top 25.
West Texas A&M (6-0) remained number six after beating MSU 29-27, while Abilene Christian (5-0) moved up one place to number 22.
In fact, the top 18 places remained unchanged this week with defending national champion Grand Valley State (Mich.) (6-0) holding the top spot, followed by defending runner-up Northwest Missouri State (6-0), North Alabama (5-0), North Dakota (6-0) and Valdosta State (Ga.) (5-0) in the top five.
No. 24 Midwestern hosts Tarleton State on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Memorial Stadium.Tarleton started the season ranked 25th before the Texans dropped their first three games by a total of eight points.
