Mustangs ranked 6th in Southwest Region Rankings

- The Midwestern State University Mustangs grabbed the number six spot in the first NCAA Division II Southwest Regional rankings released Monday by the NCAA.

The regional rankings, which determine the representatives to the NCAA Division II championship, began this week and will continue weekly until the bracket is announced on Nov. 12.

Northwest
Missouri
State
(6-0) is the top ranked team in the region, with
Missouri
Western
State
(5-1) ranked second. Both are members of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
Chadron
State
(
Neb.
) (6-0), from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference is third.

Then the Lone Star Conference takes positions four, five and six with West Texas A&M (6-0), Abilene Christian (5-0) and MSU (5-1) respectively.

The MIAA's

Pittsburg
State

Kan.
) (5-1), a perennial Division II powerhouse, is ranked seventh, with
Fort
Lewis
(
Colo.
) (5-2),Western New Mexico (4-2), and Nebraska-Kearney (3-2), all of the RMAC, in eight, nine and ten.

The LSC's Central Oklahoma (3-3) and the MIAA's Washburn (

Kan.
) (4-2) round out the top 12.
