-- The Midwestern State University men's soccer team has been seeded number two in the Midwest Region of the 2006 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship.

Announced by the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Committee on Monday, the field will have eight regions, with four teams in each region. The first and second round games will be hosted by the top team in each region with the winner advancing to the quarterfinal games.

), the defending national champion, is the number one seed for the
Midwest
. The tournament will be held in

Colorado
, with the semi-finals beginning Friday at 11:00 a.m., and the regional final beginning at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday.

MSU will play a familiar opponent in the three seed Incarnate Word (

Texas
) Cardinals. The two teams have already met twice this season, tying the first match 2-2, and Midwestern winning the second 3-1.

In the second game, number one seed

will play the fourth seeded Metro State Road Runners. These two teams have also met this year, with

winning all three times, including a 2-0 win in the championship game of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference soccer tournament.

This is the Mustangs first trip back to the NCAA tournament since 2003, when the team advanced to the quarterfinals game, before falling to eventually runner-up Cal State-Chico, 3-1.

The MSU-UIW game will be the first semi-final match, and will kick off at 11:00 a.m., from Dirks Field in
