Mustangs drop to 8th in Southwest Region

- The Midwestern State University Mustangs fell two spots in this week's NCAA Division II Southwest Regional rankings released by the NCAA.

MSU (5-2) dropped from sixth to eighth in the regional poll after losing to

Tarleton
State
38-17 last Saturday.

The top five positions remained unchanged from last week with

Missouri
State
(7-0) remaining number one.
Missouri
Western
State
(6-1) follows, with
Chadron
State
(
Neb.
) (7-0), West Texas A&M (7-0) and Abilene Christian (6-0) rounding out the top five.

Fort
Lewis
(
Colo.
) (5-3) is now sixth, with
Pittsburg
State
(
Kan.
) (6-1) seventh and MSU eighth. Central Oklahoma (5-2) is ninth this week, with Nebraska-Kearney (4-2), Tarleton State (3-3) and Western New Mexico (4-3) completing the rankings.

The regional rankings, which determine the representatives to the NCAA Division II championship continue weekly until the bracket is announced on Nov. 12.

The top six team in the region advance to the championships.

MSU travels this Saturday to face Texas A&M-Kingsville in a 7 p.m. contest.
