MSU to induct three into Hall of Honor

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State University will induct three people into the athletic Hall of Honor during halftime of Saturday's Homecoming football game against Southeastern Oklahoma State University at Memorial Stadium.

MSU will honor retired athletics administrator Sandra Ketchum, men's tennis standout Jason Peters and basketball great Terrence Thomas for their contributions to the

Midwestern
State
athletic program.

Ketchum spent 18 years in the front office of the athletic department, serving in roles as office manager, ticket manager, eligibility coordinator and Senior Woman Administrator.

She's credited for helping organize and manage the annual M-Club campaign, provided invaluable support in hosting two NAIA National Soccer Tournaments and played a key administrative role in the reinstatement of football at MSU in 1988.

Additionally, Ketchum has been named the Staff Employee of the Year at MSU.

Peters played tennis for

Midwestern
State
from 1997-to-2001. He was the team Most Valuable Player in 2001, leading MSU to it's first Lone Star Conference Championship.

With a career record of 73-18 in singles and 71-28 in doubles, the Garland High graduate led MSU to the NCAA Division II Regionals all four years that he played. He helped the 1999 squad win the regional championship and advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

Thomas played for two of the best MSU teams in recent history during his career from 1998-to-2000. The Dallas Skyline guard helped lead Midwestern to back-to-back Lone Star Conference Championships in 1999 and 2000.

In 1999, he earned LSC All-Tournament honors as MSU claimed the league championship. In 2000, Thomas was named first-team All-LSC South as MSU's leading scorer with 13.4 points a game.

A clutch three-point shooter who shot 37.2 percent from the arc for his career, Thomas may best be remembered by MSU fans for his last-second three-pointer to beat Northeastern State in the 2000 NCAA Division II South Central Regional and a last-second trey to edge Metro State (Colo.) at the 1999 Disney Tipoff Classic.

The trio will be presented with their Hall of Honor awards at halftime and then their photos will join the 100 other members on the concourse of D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
