MSU remains 8th in Southwest Region
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Midwestern State University Mustangs remained steady in this week's NCAA Division II Southwest Regional rankings released by the NCAA.
MSU (6-2) retained its eighth spot in the regional poll after trouncing Texas A&M-Kingsville 44-17 last Saturday.
There was a shakeup in the rankings. Northwest Missouri State(8-0) remained number one, but Chadron State( Neb.) (8-0) moved up to number two. Missouri Western State (7-1) fell one spot to third, with Abilene Christian (7-0) and West Texas A&M (7-1) flipping four and five after ACU's 49-33 win last Thursday.
Fort Lewis( Colo.) (6-3) stayed sixth, but Tarleton State (4-3) jumped into the number seven spot.MSU held on to eighth as Pittsburg State( Kan.) (7-1) dropped two places in the rankings. Southeastern Oklahoma State(4-3), MSU's opponent this week, popped in at number 10, with Truman State( Mo.) (4-4) and Central Oklahoma (5-3) completing the rankings.
The regional rankings, which determine the representatives to the NCAA Division II championship continue weekly until the bracket is announced on Nov. 12.
The top six teams in the region advance to the championships.
MSU celebrates Homecoming against Southeastern Oklahoma at Memorial Stadium on Saturday with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
