Angelo State hands MSU women 2-1 defeat
SAN ANGELO, Texas - Thanks to an own goal scored in the 40th minute, the Angelo State University Rambelles claimed a 2-1 victory over Midwestern State University in a Lone Star Conference women's soccer game Sunday afternoon.
MSU (6-6-1, 2-2-1) got the first goal of the match in the 19th minute when Katy Lukert scored for the Mustangs. Kari Bristow and Megan Hanlon got the assists on the goal.
But Angelo (9-4-1, 2-2-1) tied the game on Marianne Glutz's goal in the 38th minute off a corner kick from Christian Wilman.
Two minutes later, MSU goalkeeper Heather Primavera back-heeled a loose ball that found the net for an own goal and gave ASU the lead.
Neither squad scored in the second half.
ASU outshot MSU 13-12, with Primavera recording eight saves with allowing the two goals.
Angelo keeper Becky Martin got three saves for the Rambelles, while allowing one goal.
