Mustangs blast Angelo State 41-17
MSU (5-0 overall, 3-0 Lone Star Conference, 1-0 LSC South) got 165 yards and three touchdowns rushing from junior backup quarterback Daniel Polk. Polk scored on runs of 82, 59 and three yards for Mustangs.
Senior tailback Ross Harrison rushed for 77 yards on seven carries before leaving the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury.
Starting quarterback Rahsaan Bell threw for 149 yards on 18-of-26 passes without an interception.
MSU rolled up 587 offensive yards in the game, while holding ASU to just 232 yards.
Midwestern picked up it's ninth straight win dating back to last season, the most in school history.
Mustang Ulysess Odoms popped in an eight yard run on the next possession, with Kristian Foster adding the first of two field goals on the night.
The next two MSU drives had Polk running for a pair of touchdowns, the first of 82 yards, the second-longest run of his career.
The win by MSU sets up a showdown of unbeaten team next Saturday in Canyon, as MSU visits seventh-ranked West Texas A&M in a 6 p.m. showdown at Kimbrough Stadium.
