Ed Harris to become Interim Athletic Director

Dr. Jesse W. Rogers, president of  Midwestern State University , announced today that Ed Harris will be serving as interim athletic director effective October 15. Kurt Portmann, current athletic director, will assume the position of associate director at that same time.

 

Harris retired last May from  West Texas A&M University  where he had served as athletic director for 12 years.

 

"We're pleased that Ed will be joining our staff. He's had a long, successful career as an A.D. at three Division II universities. We look forward to gaining the benefits of his experience"  Rogers  said.

 

"We appreciate all that Kurt has done. I am particularly pleased that he has agreed to serve as associate A.D. I believe that he has a good future in athletic administration."  Rogers  stated.

 

A date has not been set to begin a national search for the athletic director position.
