MSU to host South Central Region softball tournament
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The NCAA Division II softball committee announced the field for the 2006 softball championships early Monday morning.
And Midwestern State University was named the host institution for the South Central regionals from May 11-15 to be played on Skip Brown Field at the Sunrise Optimist Club softball complex.
The Mustangs (44-13) earned the top seed and will host Abilene Christian, Regis (Colo.), Southeastern Oklahoma, St. Mary's ( Texas), St. Edward's (Texas), Central Oklahoma and Incarnate Word (Texas).
The winner will move on to the 2006 Division II Softball Championships next week in Salem, Virginia.
The tournament begins with a four-game set beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Games will follow at 1:30, 4 and 6 p.m. with Midwestern opening with Incarnate Word in the late game.
Tickets will be available at the gate at a cost of $7 for general admission and$5 for students or senior citizens.
