Men's Tennis advances to national quarterfinals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Midwestern State will move on to the national quarterfinals for the first time ins school history after upending Concordia University of New York Wednesday afternoon at Homestead Country Club.

"It was a good match," MSU coach Larry Wiggins said. "It's nice to be in the Elite 8."

in the national quarterfinals Thursday at 2 p.m. This also marks the first time the Fighting Knights (19-5) have advanced to quarterfinals since 1997.

Midwestern overcame a sluggish start in doubles as Concordia forged a 2-1 advantage with the Mustangs lone win coming from Brett Emerson and Zac Dillard at No. 1.

Emerson (1), Stefan McKinney (2), Gene Ligeon (4) and Jared King all claimed singles victories for MSU and Charles Van Swelm (3) and Dillard (5) were each leading win the match was pulled.
