Emerson and Dillard Named ITA All-Americans
The pair were chosen to the team after finishing in the top 10 in the final ITA/Fila Collegiate Rankings in doubles.
Emerson, a junior from Canberra, Australia
and Dillard, a sophomore from Wichita Falls/Rider, helped lead MSU to the Lone Star Conference Championship and the NCAA Division II quarterfinals this spring.
MSU's number one doubles team was ranked ninth in the final Fila rankings for the season, with a record of 17-3 in the dual season.
Among the highlights for the pair was an 8-2 victory over the Jan Macko and Lorenzo Cava of Lynn ( Fla. ) in the NCAA quarterfinals. Macko/Cava were the top ranked doubles team in NCAA Division II at the time and finished the season ranked second.
Emerson just missed earning All-America honors in singles. The MSU junior finished the year ranked 22nd in the ITA/Fila singles rankings, where the top 20 are selected to the All-America team.
The Mustangs finished the season with an 18-5 dual match record.
