MSU Tennis beats East Central
ADA, Okla. -- The Midwestern State University men's and women's tennis teams collected Lone Star Conference victories on Tuesday at East Central ( Okla.) University.
The men defeated ECU 8-1, while the women claimed a 5-4 victory.
In the women's competition, the match was even at 4-all before MSU sophomore Brenna Jackson defeated ECU's Karlien Lotter 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 in number two singles to win the match for the Mustangs.
In men's play, the Mustangs cruised to the win led by number one singles player Brett Emerson. The junior defeated ECU senior Quynh Tran 6-2, 7-5 for his 14th win in singles play this spring and his sixth straight singles win.
The Midwestern men, ranked 23rd in the latest ITA/Fila national poll, is now 13-4 in dual match play. á The MSU women, 27th nationally, are now 12-3 in dual match play.
MSU is in action again this weekend at the Broncho Invitational at Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
