MSU SOFTBALL DROPS TO NUMBER 21

 

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Midwestern State University fell 10 spots in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Top 25.MSU dropped to No. 21, after ranking 11th in the previous poll.

 

MSU has a record of 33-8 overall, 12-4 in Lone Star Conference North play, after sweeping a doubleheader with now 16th ranked Abilene Christian on Wednesday.

 

Humboldt State ( Calif.) moved to the top spot in the poll with a record of 35-3 overall, while Florida Southern is second and Emporia State ( Kan. ) fell to third after dropping to 31-3 overall. Southeastern Oklahoma State remained fourth nationally despite splitting four games with MSU.SOSU, 30-6 as of Sunday, has also dropped two more games to unranked Central Oklahoma.Southern Illinois-Edwardsville is fifth.

 

With Abilene Christian ranked 16th, the Lone Star Conference has three teams ranked in the Top 25.Incarnate Word, a team MSU defeated earlier this season, fell to 25th in the poll. St. Edward's was just outside the rankings.

 

MSU is 6-3 against teams nationally ranked when they played each other and 6-3 as well against teams currently ranked in the national poll.

 

MSU returns to the field on Saturday to host Angelo State in a non-divisional game with the LSC rival.The doubleheader is set to start at Noon.
