MSU hosts LSC Tennis Championships
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State University is the host of the 2006 Lone Star Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championships. á The tournaments will be conducted at three venues on Thursday and Friday.
Play begins at 8 a.m. on Thursday with women's matches at the MSU Courts and Weeks Park . á The men will also start play at 8 a.m., with matches at Hamilton Park .
Both the men's and women's championship matches will be played Friday morning at 9 at Hamilton Park .
The action features some of the best NCAA Division II tennis in the country.
On the men's side, top seed Abilene Christian is ranked 19th in the latest Fila/ITA national poll, with second seeded MSU 23rd, and number three seed Cameron 20th. á
In women's play, number one seed Abilene Christian is 15th, second seed Tarleton State is 18th, third seed Northeastern State is 25th and fourth seed Midwestern is 27th.
The men's bracket has Cameron against Southeastern Oklahoma and Central Oklahoma versus East Central in opening round play Thursday morning. á Thursday afternoon's semifinals pit Abilene Christian against the ECU/UCO winner and Midwestern against the CU/SOSU victor. á Both semifinals start at 1 p.m. at Hamilton Park .
The women's draw has four quarterfinal matches Thursday morning.
At the MSU Courts, Abilene Christian meets Eastern New Mexico, with Midwestern State facing Cameron. á The winners meet in a semifinal at 1 p.m. at MSU.
At Weeks Park, Tarleton State plays Southeastern Oklahoma and Northeastern State squares off against East Central. á Those winners meet in a semifinal at 1 p.m. at Weeks Park .
