MSU carries North's Top Seed into LSC Tournament

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern  State  University and Abilene  Christian  University carry the top seeds into the 2006 Lone Star Conference Softball Tournament set for Thursday through Saturday at Southwest  Park in Irving.

MSU (41-12, 18-6) is the top seed from the North Division, while ACU (38-15, 18-4) has the South Division's number one seed.  Both teams earn first round byes in the double-elimination tournament.

Southeastern Oklahoma State (38-10, 18-6) tied MSU for the division title, but is the North's number two seed by being swept by the North's number three seed Central Oklahoma (24-13, 17-7). MSU took three of four games in the series with UCO.

Texas Woman's (25-34, 13-8-1) got the two seed from the South, percentage points better than number three seed Angelo State (31-24, 13-9).

Thursday's opening round features TWU against UCO at 7 p.m. with the winner to meet Midwestern at 11 a.m. on Friday. á The other contest has SOSU against ASU with the winner taking on Abilene Christian Friday at 11 a.m.

The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. á An if needed second championship game would follow.
