Softball weekend plans changed

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Midwestern State University games in Amarillo and Canyon this weekend have been changed by opponent and tournament host West Texas A&M.

MSU (12-3) was to open play in the Holiday Inn/Lady Buff Classic on Friday in Amarillo, but WT has changed the dates of the tourney from Friday and Saturday to Saturday and Sunday.

That also means that the MSU-West Texas doubleheader set for Sunday in Canyon has been moved to Friday afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m.

WTAMU moved the classic because of "expected rain in the Amarillo/Canyon area this weekend."

WT also stated that in case of inclement weather on Friday, the MSU doubleheader would be canceled.

The tournament schedule has also been changed.

MSU now faces Western New Mexico at 1 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a 3 p.m. game with Northeastern State . á On Sunday, MSU is to play St. Edward's at 10 a.m., followed b a 2 p.m. game against Southeastern Oklahoma State .

The previous schedule had pool play, including a game with West Texas.

MSU, rained out during the Lone Star Conference First Pitch Tournament last weekend, has not been able to play a game since sweeping West Texas 15-1 and 2-1 on Feb. 21.

The Mustangs carry a seven-game winning streak to the Panhandle this weekend.

The Lady Buff Classic will be played at the Rick Klein Sports Complex in Amarillo , while the scheduled doubleheader is to be played at the Lady Buff Yard in Canyon.
