No. 14 MSU braces for Savage Storm

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The No. 14-ranked Midwestern State University Mustangs play host to fourth-ranked Southeastern Oklahoma State Tuesday afternoon at the Sunrise Optimist Complex. First pitch for the doubleheader is slated for 4 p.m.

The series will conclude on Saturday in Durant, Okla. with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

Abilene  Christian University comes to town on Wednesday for aá4 p.m. doubleheader at the Sunrise Optimist Complex.

The Mustangs bring a 24-5 overall record into Tuesday's contest with a 7-1 mark in the LSC's North Division, while Southeastern Oklahoma is 24-4 and 4-0.

Midwestern State defeated the Savage Storm 6-2 earlier this month at the Holiday Inn/Lady Buff Classic in Amarillo on the strength of a ninth-inning grand slam by Racheal Jackson.

The Mustangs are led by sophomore third baseman Kristen Stonecipher, while SOSU is paced by junior outfielder Kylie Ferguson.

Stonecipher leads MSU with seven home runs, seven doubles and a .392 average, while Ferguson paces the Savage Storm with 10 doubles and six home runs with a .411 batting average.

Midwestern continues to lead the conference in ERA at 1.64 with senior Brittany Willson (15-2) leading the way with a 1.47 mark and sophomore Ashley Kuchenski (9-3) follows closely behind allowing 1.74 earned runs per contest.

Southeastern Oklahoma brings a 1.95 earned run average into Tuesday's showdown. Senior ace Christina Cearley leads the Savage Storm with a 12-1 record and 1.26 ERA. Cearley has posted five shutouts.

Junior Carly Goodnight is 9-2 with a 2.65 ERA.
