Kuchenski garners LSC North Pitcher of the Week honors

RICHARDSON, Texas - Lone Star Conference officials named Midwestern State University pitcher Ashley Kuchenski North Division Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday.

 

Kuchenski, a sophomore from Magnolia, Texas, helped the Mustangs to a 5-1 record last week by going 3-0 in the circle with a .71 ERA in 19 2/3 innings while striking out 16 and walking six.

MSU has now claimed back-to-back pitcher of the week awards with starter Brittany Willson claiming the honor a week ago.

Kuchenski also contributed a .533 (8-of-15) average at the plate with a double, a home run and four runs batted in.

Southeastern Oklahoma's Kylie Ferguson claimed North Division hitter honors, while Texas A&M-Kingsville's Kassie Rezza and Tarleton's Shannon Anderson were named the week's top hitter and pitcher in the South Division, respectively.

MSU, which has won 13 of its last 14 games, returns to the diamond Saturday in Ada, Okla. to face East Central in LSC North divisional play. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
