Jackson and Willson tabbed LSC North Players of the Week
RICHARDSON, Texas - Racheal Jackson and Brittany Willson were named Lone Star Conference North division hitter and pitcher of the week for their efforts in helping the Midwestern State Mustangs extend their winning streak to seven games.
Jackson, a junior catcher from Rowlett, broke out of an early season slump to go 7-for-12 at the plate with three doubles and two home runs while driving eight runs in four games.
Willson, a senior pitcher from Burkburnett, earns her second honor as pitcher of the week. Willson claimed wins in three of MSU's four games to improve to 9-1 on the season. She allowed 14 base runners in 15 innings and struck out 19 while walking just two.
Eastern New Mexico battery mates Tina Whitt and Amanda Nightingale claimed South division honors for the Zias.
Whitt slugged four home runs, while Nightingale spun a three-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over East Central in LSC First Pitch action last weekend.
The Mustangs (12-3) return to action on Friday with a doubleheader against West Texas A&M in Canyon before competing in the Holiday Inn/Lady Buff Classic over the weekend.
