#11 MSU and #4 SE Oklahoma split twinbill

DURANT, Okla. - Repeating the doubleheader played between the teams last Tuesday, the 11th ranked Midwestern State University Mustangs and fourth ranked Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm split games in Lone Star Conference North action.

MSU (26-7, 9-3) won the first game 1-0, while Southeastern (26-6, 6-2) took the second contest 6-5 in eight innings at the Southeastern Softball Complex.

MSU's Brittany Willson won the opener and lost the second game in relief to go to 16-4 on the season, while SOSU's Christina Cearley lost game one and won game two in relief for a 14-3 record.

Willson struckout six without a walk in 11.2 innings on the afternoon. á She allowed just two hits in the game one shutout, while allowing six hits and two runs in the game two. á Cearley struckout 10 with three walks, while allowing 14 hits and five runs in 10.2 innings.

Stephanie Wardlaw led MSU at the plate, going 4-for-8 with a double, a triple and four RBI. á Chantelle Lee went 3-for-5 for the Mustangs with two runs scored as well.

MSU got the only run of game one in the top of the third when Lee singled, then was driven in with a two-out double by Wardlaw.

Game two found MSU down 5-0 after four innings before Kristen Stonecipher got an RBI single to put the Mustangs on the board.

In the top of the sixth, MSU added four runs with two out to tie the game. á After a leadoff single by Kelli Shaw, MSU saw Sara Huddleston foul out and Amanda Hill pinch hitting into a ground out.

That's when Lee and Allison Tidwell smacked singles to load the bases for Wardlaw who cleared them with a triple. á Stonecipher reached on an error by SOSU's Emily McNamara at short, driving in Wardlaw.

Southeastern won the game in the eighth. á Following the first two outs, Elicia Marquez doubled for the Storm, followed by a Jami McAdoo RBI single for the win.

Midwestern State continues LSC North action on Tuesday, traveling to Tahlequah Okla. to face Northeastern State in a doubleheader.
