Thompson named Men's Soccer Assistant Coach
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State University men's soccer coach Doug Elder has named Lance Thompson as men's assistant soccer coach for the Mustangs.
Thompson comes to MSU after two seasons as the head men's soccer coach and athletic director at Holy Names University, a NAIA institution located in Oakland.
He also served five years as the men's and women's soccer coach at Alliant International, another NAIA institution located in San Diego, in: 0in 0in 0pt; "Lance brings a wealth of experience to the MSU program," stated Elder. á "He's a strong recruiter and an outstanding coach."
Thompson posted a 77-46-8 record as a men's coach over the last seven years adding a 17-10-5 as the women's coach at Alliant International in 2002 and 2003.
He directed HNU and AIU to three NAIA National tournament appearances, was a finalist for the NAIA/Brine Coach of the Year three times, and led his teams to Top 25 rankings in the NAIA over the seven seasons.
Thompson coached 16 athletes named to the NAIA All-America Academic team, 13 NAIA All-Americans, and had the California Pacific Conference Player of the Year twice.
Thompson replaces Alan Koch who was named head men's soccer coach at Baker (Kan. in January. á Thompson will begin at MSU the first week of March.
