Stonecipher named LSC North hitter of the week

RICHARDSON, Texas - Midwestern State sophomore Kristen Stonecipher was named Lone Star Conference North Division hitter of the week Tuesday night for her outstanding play at the St. Mary's Classic in San Antonio last weekend. 

Stonecipher led MSU to a 4-1 showing at the St. Mary's Classic by hitting .444 (8 of 18) with a homerun, a double, four runs batted in and a .667 slugging percentage. She also stole one base and was perfect in the field, recording eight putouts and 15 assists in her first action at third base.

Southeastern Oklahoma's Christina Cearley earned LSC North pitcher honors, while Angelo State swept LSC South honor. Catcher Jessica Stroud was named hitter of the week, and Kari Galm was the south's pitcher of the week.

Midwestern State, which went 5-2 last week, returns to action Saturday with games against Emporia State Kan.) and Angelo State in San Angelo.W
