Midwestern State inks 28 to football letters

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State University head football coach Bill Maskill announced the signing of 28 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to play football for the Mustangs next season.

The group includes 16 high school seniors and 12 junior college transfers.á The group of incoming high school players is split evenly with eight offensive and eight defensive players.á

"This is an excellent recruiting class," said Maskill."While we addressed all of our needs there are still a couple of players we'd like to get."

On offense, the Mustangs are particularly excited about quarterback Ramon Williams of Jacksonville and running back Chris Wimbish of McKinney. On the other side of the ball, defensive backs Austin McDaniel of Kaufman and John Murphy of Garland could make immediate impacts.

MSU is coming off a 6-4 season in 2005 and finished the season 11th in NCAA Division II Southwest regional rankings.
