Dawson earns LSC South Player of the Week for third time

RICHARDSON, Texas - Midwestern State University center Eric Dawson was name LSC South co-Player of the Week on Monday, sharing the honors with Texas A&M-Kingsville's Remi Yusuf.

Dawson fought an ankle injury and illness to average 20.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, four blocked shots and 2.5 steals off of the bench to help the Mustangs to wins over Angelo State and Abilene Christian last week.

Yusuf, a 6-4 junior guard, poured in 26.5 points and averaged three steals in wins over Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M.

West Texas A&M freshman guard Emily Brister was named LSC South women's Player of the Week, while Southwestern Oklahoma's Andrea Oldham and Texas A&M-Commerce's Lamar Searight earned honors in the North Division.

MSU will try to extend its four-game winning streak Wednesday night in Kingsville. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m., or 30 minutes after the women's game, which starts at 6.
