The Pioneers used a 54-percent shooting touch after intermission to close out the Mustangs 67-58.

MSU fell to 7-10 on the season and 1-3 in the LSC South, while the Pioneers improved to 10-6 and 3-1.

The Mustangs will now hit the road for their three contests, beginning with Thursday night's face-off with No. 17 West Texas A&M in Canyon.

MSU used a 6-0 run keyed by an Angie Faurot 3-pointer and a Kelly Cleavinger layup to take its biggest lead of the night at 41-35 with 14:53 remaining.

The Pioneers answered with a 6-0 run of their own and built a 62-54 lead after the Mustangs aided a 12-4 run by going 2-for-9 from the field over an six-minute span beginning with Brittni Burks' missed layup at the 8:51-mark of the second half.

TWU iced the game by hitting five of its last six free throws.

The Mustangs followed a 6-for-24 first-half shooting performance with a 8-for-29 showing after intermission to finish the game with a season-low 26.4 percent field goal percentage.

Burks came off the bench to tie for team-high honors with 15 points and hit 10 of 11 shots from the charity stripe. The sophomore from Archer City also snagged nine boards.

Katherine Maples also had 15 points to go along with five boards and five assists, while Angie Faurot scored 10 points.

Margaret Wimbish led a quartet of Pioneer starters in double figures with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kristal Robeson had 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists; Courtney Colmer had 15 points and Ashley Browning had 11.
