No. 18 WT uses 16-0 second-half run to finish MSU women, 72-46
CANYON, Texas - The Midwestern State University Mustangs did all they could to make life difficult for Emily Brister and the No. 18 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs Wednesday night at the First United Bank Center.
The Mustangs threw all kinds of help to pressure the nation's fifth best scorer. And it worked as Brister was limited to 1-of-8 shooting in the opening half.
Brister still ended up with 24 points to go along with seven steals to help the Lady Buffs build big runs in each half to come away with a 72-46 win.
The Mustangs fall to 7-11 on the season and 1-4 in LSC South Division play, while West Texas improves to 15-2 and 4-0.
MSU will travel to Portales, N.M. on Saturday to play Eastern New Mexico at Greyhound Arena. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.

Robertson banged home a 3-pointer to start the game, as MSU ran out to a 13-10 lead at the midway point of the first half.
The lead was short lived as the Lady Buffs closed the half on a 10-0 run over the final 5:04 of the half to build a 30-19 halftime advantage.
WT pressured the Mustangs into missing their final 12 shots of the half. The Lady Buffs used a 31-21 advantage on the glass, converting 12 second-chance points, while the Mustangs failed to convert any of their nine second chance.
The Lady Buffs used the length of Saunders (6-5) to block five shots in the opening half. Saunders finished the night with 11 rebounds and five blocks.
