Mustang women upset Northeastern State 63-59
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Katherine Maples scored 23 points and added 18 rebounds to lead MSU past Northeastern (Okla.) State 63-59 Thursday night on Gerald Stockton Court at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.The Mustangs improved to 10-4 on the season, snapping the Lady Reds' four-game winning streak in the process.Angie Faurot capped a 17-6 run eight minutes into the second half with a 3-pointer to give MSU its biggest lead of the night at 45-35 in a game that saw four ties and seven lead changes.Maples' 18 boards, a career high, helped the Mustangs claim a 41-29 rebound advantage to seal the win. Katie Robertson was one rebound off of her career-best, snagging seven caroms.Robertson also finished the game with 11 points and now has scored in double figures in seven of her last eight outings.Faurot also finished with 11 points, including two 3-pointers.The Mustangs return toStockton Court on Saturday when they play host to Central Oklahoma. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
