MSU Men 9th in first regional rankings
WICHITA FALL, Texas - Midwestern State University is ranked ninth in 2006's first NCAA Division II Men's South Central Regional rankings released Wednesday.
The Mustangs are 11-6 on the season and are 8-3 against regional opponents after losing having their five-game winning streak snapped by Tarleton State on Tuesday night.
The Texans were ranked third in the first poll, while Northeastern State (Okla. is ranked sixth and Texas A&M-Kingsville tenth, giving the Lone Star Conference four representatives in the poll.
The South Central region is made up of the LSC, Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the Heartland Conference.
The rankings determine the remaining at-large bids after automatic berths are given to each conference's post-season tournament winner.
Northwest Missouri State of the MIAA tops the poll at 13-3.
The Mustangs square off with Texas A&M-Kingsville Thursday night at
Stockton Court in D.L. Coliseum. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the women's teams, which tips at 6 p.m.
