Ouachita Baptist beats MSU in overtime

HONOLULU, Hawaii - Ouachita Baptist University erased a 14-point Midwestern State University lead in the second half as they beat MSU 80-76 in overtime at the Hoop-N-Surf Classic at the Kaiser High School gymnasium.

OBU's Lucky Butler nailed a three-pointer with 25 seconds left to tie the game at 68. á Midwestern State (6-4) got two shots in the last five seconds, but a three-pointer by Tate Lombard and a leaner off an inbounds-pass by Chad Rickett with 0.5 seconds in regulation bounced off.

OBU (7-5) erased a 12-point MSU lead in the last 6:08 of regulation by going on a 16-4 run down the stretch.

OBU's Jaranimo Marks buried a three-pointer a minute into the overtime following an Eric Dawson block that gave the Tigers their first second half lead and they never trailed again.

Lombard led MSU with 18 points, hitting four threes in the contest. á Rickett added 17 points and Eddie Rowe 12.

Dawson was named to the All-Classic team after posting nine points, 13 rebounds, seven blocked shots and four assists.

Butler led OBU with 33 points and nine boards, with Brandon Dawson chipping in 10 points and five rebounds.

MSU is off until a week from Friday, when the Mustangs host Southern Arkansas in a non-conference affair at

Stockton Court in Ligon Coliseum at 7 p.m.
