-- The Midwestern State University men's basketball team connected on 8-of-9 free throws down the stretch as they posted a 69-66 road victory over East Central (Okla.) University Thursday night at the Kerr Center.

MSU (4-1) was paced down the stretch by Chad Rickett who scored the last six points for Midwestern in the final 50 seconds to slide by ECU (1-1).

Down by one, Rickett started the charge with a traditional three-point play to retake the lead 65-63 with 50 seconds to go.

Follwing a missed three-pointer by East Central, Rickett was fouled and made both charity shots.

ECU pulled back within a point on a Terrell Carpenter trey, but ECU again fouled MSU's Rickett who calmly tossed in two more free throws.

East Central got two more three-point attempts, but could not convert and MSU claimed the win.

Midwestern shot 36 percent from the floor, but held the homestanding Tigers to 34 percent as well.

Rickett led MSU with 23 points and five rebounds, with Allen Houston adding 13 points as the only other MSU player in double figures. Christopher Reay added nine points with five boards.

East Central had Jason Thomas collect 22 points, Chris Ringle 17 points with eight rebounds and Carpenter adding 16 points in the loss.
