Professorship named to honor Dr. Robert Madera

An endowment has been established to honor Dr. Robert Madera, Midwestern State University accounting professor from 1951-1989. Al Guinn '53 and Carroll Laing '60, who were his business students, are establishing the Madera Professorship endowment in his name by making their own private gift to MSU. á áThe Professorship, benefiting the Dillard College of Business Administration, will help recruit and retain faculty scholars and allow MSU to put the best professors in front of students.

Madera taught real-world accounting business practices from his days as a Certified Public Accountant and prepared his students for accounting careers. "I just loved working with students," Madera said. "I got paid for doing something I loved to do."

During Madera's tenure at Midwestern he was awarded the prominent Hardin Professor honor along with many faculty awards, but it was his love of teaching students and offering hands-on instruction that made him so special.

Professorships are created by private contributions. Anyone interested in making a donation toward the minimum goal of $200,000.00 should contact the Annual Fund Office at 397-4577.
