No. 22 Midwestern downs St. Mary's 1-0

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The 22nd ranked Midwestern State University men's soccer team took one more step toward a Southwest Soccer Conference championship as they defeated St. Mary's University 1-0 at Rattler Field Friday afternoon.

Senior Chad Rakestraw gave the Indians (12-3-2, 10-1-2) the win with a goal in the 60th minute off an assist from sophomore Danny Kastelic.

Midwestern State sophomore keeper Sean Gill of Wichita Falls/Rider posted nine saves against 12 Rattler shots in earning his fourth shutout of the season.

St. Mary's keeper Bobby Ermatinger recorded only one save and allowed the goal as MSU was credited with nine shots.

Midwestern State has one regular season game remaining on the schedule.  MSU faces St. Edward's at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Austin.  A win would give MSU a share of the SSC championship with Incarnate Word.  MSU and UIW tied twice this season.
