New display for Fantasy of Lights
The unveiling of a new display will be part of á the Burns-Midwestern State University Fantasy of Lights á opening ceremony Friday, December 2 at 6:00 p.m. on the lawn of Hardin Hall.
The Sandy Singers from Burkburnett will begin performing at 5:55 p.m. and conclude as the ceremony opens at approximately >6:10 p.m. The singers are directed by Sandy Evans.
The new display is in memory of Mrs. Jan Thacker who was instrumental in keeping the lights turned on each year.
Santa will be available for photos with the children. If you forget your camera, Metro Photo will also be taking pictures for $10 that will be available for pickup on Saturday at the Metro store on
Kell Blvd.The MSU Band will present a holiday performance in Akin Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. following the ceremony.
This is the 31st year the Fantasy of Lights has been displayed on the MSU campus. á The display of 34 brightly-lit scenes and 20,000 lights brings an estimated 200,000 persons to campus each year.
Weather permitting, the displays are lit each evening at dusk and remain on until 10:00 p.m. weeknights and 11:00 p.m. weekends. á The display will continue through New Year's Day.
