MSU beats Southwestern Oklahoma 3-0
WEATHERFORD, Okla. - It took just over an hour for the Midwestern State University volleyball team to close Lone Star Conference North Division play on a winning note, sweeping Southwestern Oklahoma State in three games 30-15, 30-15, 30-27 at Rankin Williams Gymnasium.
MSU lifted its record to 26-10 overall, 7-5 in LSC North play. Southwestern fell to 5-26, 1-9.
Midwestern was paced by the play of junior middle blocker Candice Main of Fort Worth/Castleberry who hit an amazing .520 for the match with 14 kills and four blocks. Sophomore Rachel Gilmore of Arlington/Lamar tallied nine kills and hit .467, while sophomore Krissa Johnson of Denver City hit .538 for the match, posting seven kills. Both chalked up four blocks apiece.
Freshman Allison Schreiber of Windthorst posted 39 assists in the match.
Southwestern was led by Tennessee Brown with nine kills.
Midwestern State must wait for help to make the Lone Star Conference Tournament, with several tie breakers involved to determine the qualifying teams and seeding.
The Lady Indians close the regular season Saturday in Odessa as they meet Texas-Permian Basin in a non-conference match.
